mystery plant

I saw this plant growing on a disused plat of land at the bottom of our road the other day. Jade and I took some cuttings of this specimen for research the other night.
What is it and how do we grow it, any ideas?

Christmass comes to Grange Caught

Ho Ho Ho. that's right, come the first of December Jade and I set out find a token to symbolise the alliance of Pagan and Christian ideology. we settled on a fur tree. In fact we got our tree from a garden center by a pub(very crafty) we popped in and I made it clear a £5 tree was all that's needed, maybe a £10 one. After a fortifying pint I happy spent £15 on a bigger tree and left the garden center in good Cheer.

our new flat

So here are some photos of our flat- the tidy bits, you get to see the rest another day

my studio, this is the only room that's left to unpack. my excuse is I'm waiting for broadband. Wow, I've just realised from looking at this picture where our green watering can is. its so wired having an extra room in the house because it feels like a proper house rather than a flat.
our kitchen- lots of space, there's even a draw just for hot beverages
the best feature of the flat
a massive cupboard, christened "Narnia" with a nod to Kate O'Sulluivan who has two such Narnias in her flat- both stuffed full.

our new flat 2

What's this. behold the balcony
no birds spotted on the feeder as yet- lets see how choosy they are when it gets really cold
Jade's shoe museum, only a small amount of the permanent collection is on public display at one time, the rest is held in the museum vaults.

Boo

Were staying at Anne's at the moment, she had a surprise for us when we came back last night to take our minds off how bad all our house trauma has been- a turnip each to carve- apparently the Presbyterian Scots get more pleasure from hours of scraping away at the inside of a turnip to turn into a festive decoration rather than the instant gratification of a pumpkin. we have paid for the pleasure with blisters on our hands but we do get to feast on turnip soup tonight. -jake

four super spooky turnip lanterns. woooooooo

After an extra long flight back from China Tom realised that he could apply the "bespoke" concept to any industry.

Mamachan comes to stay

That’s right, the loopy old trout stopped for a couple of nights before her and Jade went to Barcelona for a girls weekend. These photographs record Jade and her mum “bowling” on the Wii- feel like a total old man but really impressed with the nitendo wii, you wave your hand about and the guy in screen dose the same, probably the same excitement as when they bought out pong. The Wii is Eimeai’s who’s kindly putting us up at the moment.

Carole and I caching the boat to get down the Themes- we were delighted, sightseeing but everyone else was just commuting, reading their books. -jake

Jake's Birthday

Welcome to Meson Don Felipe, let me set the scene. The gentle plucking of a flamenco guitar can be heard over the chatter of cosmopolitan types. The décor is theatrical, pictures of bull fighters and large earthenware jugs. You could be in some little corner of Cadiz or Ácula…the door flys open and Josie Jakub, sparkly bags, a box of cakes and a silver balloon bearing the legend “happy birthday” enters. Yes, it is my very own Birthday and Josie has come to celebrate this by helping us scoff a large amount of Spanish grub- tapa style -jake
